About the data
The analysis is based on data originally compiled through the Benefacts Legacy dataset and explores how income patterns of registered Irish charities with income >€1 million in 2020 changed across different sub-sectors up to the end of 2023.
The allocation of charities to sub-sectors follows a classification standard devised by Benefacts, drawing on the Johns Hopkins Comparative Nonprofit Sector Project's internationally recognised framework for nonprofit classification.
The aim is to provide context on wider sector trends rather than evaluate organisational performance.
